Early Network Variety Shows: This Week on TV CONFIDENTIAL

Musical variety shows from the early years of television will be the focus this week on TV CONFIDENTIAL, Tuesday, Dec. 16 beginning at 10:30pm ET, 7:30pm PT on Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org.

Join Frankie Montiforte and me as we welcome Andrew Lee Fielding, author of The Lucky Strike Papers, a history of such early network TV variety programs as Your Hit Parade, The Freddy Martin Show and Kay Kyser’s College of Musical Knowledge. Andrew’s mother was Sue Bennett, a featured singer on these and other network shows of that era. His book not only tells her story, but takes readers behind the scenes of the early days of television, including interviews with such TV luminaries as Snooky Lanson, Kay Kyser, Dorothy Collins, Buzz Kulik, Bob Quigley, Merwyn Bogue (aka Ish Kabibble), Morey Amsterdam and Merv Griffin.

Join us for a lively trip down memory lane this Tuesday, Dec. 16 beginning at
10:30pm ET, 7:30pm PT on KSAV.org. Phone number is (800) 407-KSAV (5728), email address is talk@tvconfidential.net.
