"The greatest series on television"

With the 2008 presidential campaign finally ending today after 22 long yet eventful months, Steven Winn of the San Francisco Chronicle wonders whether political junkies, not to mention the country in general, might be in for an emotional and pyschological letdown now that the climax to this prolonged drama is at last at hand. Among the experts whose opinion he taps is my friend Bob Thompson of Syracuse University, who in his inimitable way likens the post-election climate to not only the day after Christmas, but those times in the television schedule when shows such as The Sopranos are on hiatus.
